The United Nations (UN) is an international governmental organization meant to maintain international peace and security. Founded in 1945, after WWII, the United Nations boasts 193 member nations ranging from the United States to North Korea to the Russian Federation.
6 main committees make up the General Assembly of the UN:
DISEC: Disarmament and International Security Committee
ECOFIN: Economic and Financial Committee
SOCHUM: Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee
SPECPOL: The Special Political and Decolonization Committee
ACABQ: The Administrative and Budgetary Committee

Model UN is an international group of multiple schools from multiple nations that model the United Nations' procedures and debates.
The Homestead Model United Nations club provides members with the opportunity to generate awareness, learn, and foster active participation in issues of international relations. Members will have the opportunity to participate in Model UN conferences along with other schools, where they will be part of a simulation of a real UN conference, representing a country, organization, or individual and collaborating with other representatives to solve a current or past problem.
